RT SPACE

The First Social Network for Respiratory Care

Hello all, My name is Samuel and I am interested in becoming an RT, I have been strongly considering an online course and I need some advice.

In all of your expertise, would you advise the online system (with clinical done at a hospital) or the traditional in class with lab or however they do it?

I am 37, married two children and a somewhat busy life and I am in the crossroads of my career.

Thanks.

Thanks for the responses, I was considering an online school (Independence University) but I think for me that a classroom setting would probably work out better, agreeing with Dulce, I know that I would get started and be fired up but being by myself I might loose my fire with the program.
Just a thought, but I have enrolled in a local college that has a great program and I will be getting started in the fall.
All the best.

HI Samuel,

Just read your post. I would encourage the traditional way in classroom. You get to meet other students and have some interaction. Maybe online you may get discouraged and quit. Maybe make the effort and apply to a school which has good recognition also. It's a good career. I have been working 16 yrs,

I guess almost all RRT's here in the middle east and mostly who acquired thier degree online was actually through Independence University (Formaly California Collage).
all the best Samuel.

Thanks, I appreciate that, I am set (I think) on Independence University, They seem to have been around a while and the program seems pretty good. Continued Success!

Hello Samuel
The most important part is the hands on, theory would be the same wether online or on campus, but since you have already busy life and a family i would advise the online system as long as you will be doing the practice in a health care facility, as a respiratory therapist you would be on the right track for the career, i have been an RRT for the last 15 years, and never got bored. at the end it dose really pay well, good luck.
