RT SPACE

A Global Community for Respiratory Therapist

I have noticed that a lot of the members post pictures of themselves with their pts (usually trached, babies or comatose) I don't personally approve of this. If I or one of my family members was a pt (God forbid) I would not like my picture to be displayed on a web site next to my RT. I am sure when these pictures were posted no disrespect or harm was intended, but I think that disrespect is the message it sends out. This is why I think these kinds of pictures should be banned on this site (regardless of having permission from the pt or parents).
That is my personal opinion. My sincere apologies to anyone who is offended by this message. I don’t mean this as a personal attack on anyone. I just had a strong need to voice my opinion hoping that maybe it would make people see things differently.

If it is a visably obsene picture with the patient(s) I see a problem and as long as the patients name or picture that shows disrespect towards the patient then I dont believe in showing the picture but come on if no disrespect is being shown then I see no problem with it. I thought this was an RT website where we can let loose and joke around and share our experiences. Lets get away from HIPPA and govt crap and share one anothers experiences without having to worry about "offending" one or two people
