Hi Ray, I am not sure what steps it will require. I have recently taken a position with the Oregon Society for Respiratory Care which has been enlightning to say the least. My personal opinion is that the breakdown is starting at the college level. Many new grads don't even know what the AARC is, nor what they do. When I graduated (granted I went thru the military) I had never heard of the AARC. All empasis was put on passing the NBRC exam. I understand that the military has no reason to promote the AARC, but I also found out that a good number of college programs do there best to keep the AARC and state organizations out of the class room. I would like to think that this is a thing of the past, but I know that it is not. I am not sure how to promote the organizations in a positive light to the programs, but something needs to be done. There are a lot of positive thing that come from being organized. I can't think of too many that come from being disorganized though, however, convincing the masses is still an issue. Here offer the state conference to students at almost no cost to the student, and we had no students attend from the college across town. Not sure how to handle that.

Hi Ray, Thanks for stopping by and leaving a message. I have been off of work the past two weeks because our campus was closed for the holidays but I go back to work on Monday. I am a Program Director of a Respiratory Care Program in Lawton, Oklahoma http://www.gptech.org/rsp and have been in the field of Respiratory Care since 1976. Plan to retire in July 2010. If you have an interest in photography be sure to stop by the Photography Club under the "Group" tab at the top of the page. Have a great day and a great year. -- Jack
