Hi Jack,

I think ur the right person to ask. I have a ventilated trach patient who found to have bronchopleural fistula through chest CT. She's a case of H1N1 complicated with severe pneumonia (ARDS).Had bilateral chest tube both for draining and pneumo. She's ventilated for over 2 mons now, alert and trying to communicate unfortunately she's difficult to wean off ventilator and the latest finding is that of bronchopleural fistula. The thoracic surgeon advise to put the negative chest tube pressure to 40cmH20. There is a leak of more than 100mls per breath. I browse through internet and found nothing. Will you give your expert opinion on this?
Thanks more power and God bless!

Cristina

Hey Jack - It's going great! I am doing my clinicals at United Regional right now - I did them Monday, Tues. and Wed of last week and I go again this next week. I learned soooo much my first day - got to suction a trach, helped in a code blue and did breathing treatments by myself:)

My classes are AP Cardio, Physics, Pharm and Basic Therapeutics. The classes are tough because we are having to cram since we do clinicals every two weeks but other than that it is great!

I do have a newfound respect for people that work 12 hour shifts! I've never done it before and my goodness it takes some getting used to:)

Take care and thanks for checking in on me!

Nope. It wasn't me! There are plenty of Walls in OK, though! ;-) How do you like being a Program Director? Do you like it better than working in a hospital?

LOVE Fridays:) It is going great. There are 22 students in my class. We took two tests this week and everyone in the class passed, so that is always good! Got certified in CPR yesterday, and on to two more tests next week - gotta love summer school.

Great first two days - I have already learned so much. I'm taking Foundations of Patient Care and Intro to Resp. Care with a lab. Annette Medford is the chair and Patrick Helton is clinical chair. They said we start clinicals in August:)
