I live in Philly, but working in India for a while would be crazy. Is this possible?

What do u want? Money or Establishment of profession?? If ur answer is Money, It'll be a wrong option here. If its all about profession, U r welcome!! We've got hardly 6-7 RT schools in India and still the profession is in its infancy.. The rest is up to u friend..

Dear Mr Manjush

Thank you for your comments.

Yes, we should all work for our profession. We beleive, as proven, that our profession is vital in healthcare industry whenever and wherever. I agree that the profession is still in its infancy stage outside north america. That's why we need to work together for its promotion and support.

We are here in the Gulf area, we open the door for all RTs who want to share experiences with others in different care settings.

As an advocate for RC, I know that our profession is highly needed in Gulf Countries, esp. in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait.

Thank you again for your commnets, and wish to communicate with you soon.

Dear Yousef,

Nice to see those encouraging words of yours and I'm thanking you for that. Regarding the Job prospects what we have in Middle East areas, Do you really think that it meets up to, what a Graduate in Respiratory care expects? What I came to knw my frens who are in middle east is something like RT's without RRT/CRT are considered as Technicians and their major job responsibility is to shift the Ventis from one Pt. to another. Is it true?? And I really got the QUESTION about the need of RRT/ CRT for working in an Arab country!! RRT/ CRT is the licensure for practising in the US. Why such mandate rules to descriminate the RT's who are graduates in the field?? OKAY I AGREE IF THE MOH/DOH/ DHA etc makes it mandate, THEN NBRC SHOULD MAKE IT OPEN FOR ALL THE COUNTRIES!! Its not happening and the requirements about RRT/CRT persists!!

As a Senior Person in Respiratory Care in Middle East, May I request you to comment on my queries..

I have posted the same thing in my blogs/ discussions/ profiles etc... BUT NO ONE DARE TO ANSWER OR THEY DONT HAVE ANY ANSWERS!!

I'm sorry Yousef, as my reply is deviated from the TOPIC HEADING.

Regards,

MANJUSH

Thank you Manjush

What you are saying was right. It is unfortunate that some decision makers (I mean RTs) started that more than a decade ago. Historically, It had been a must to get NBRC certificate in order to get promoted and/or working in critical care areas. This pattern of evaluation is almost disapeared as more staff and graduates came on board over the past ten years (That's mainly in Saudi Arabia as It holds the majority of RT population in the region). There is very few residual of this kind of thinking (that the RT must have north american board), but I am sure, this will not last any longer.

As a person and senior official in Dubai, I do believe on our internal evaluation skills and technical comptencies. It is good to have extra, including NBRC exams, but they are not Mandatory.

In Dubai, it is NOT considered as important to hold NBRC certificate when it comes for both, recruitment or promotion. The ONLY gauge is the RT bundle of performance, proactivity, attitude, self discipline, knowledge update, and productivity.

So, in DHA, there is NO such things as I am the one who gonna establish the licensure system (in process).

I will do my best to protect our profession and work hard for its promotion and growth.

I hope that you got answers for your questions.

Please don't hesitate to contact for any further information you may require.

Dear Yousef,

Thanks for the reply and I really appreciate it!! I wish you all the very best in what you are and praying so that LET US GET RECOGNIZED AS WHAT WE PEOPLE ARE TRAINED IN AND WHAT WE PEOPLE ARE CAPABLE OF.. The scope of our profession is such a huge one that OUR PEOPLE SHOULD UNDERSTAND IT AND CREATE NEW PATHS WHERE THEY CAN EXCEL.. Some might be good in Diagnostics like DLCO, SPIRO, PROVOCATION TESTS, IOS, PSGs etc and Mostly all of our people are good in therapeutics like Acute and Critical Care, Emergency Care, Pre-Hospital Care etc etc.. Let all of them to explore it and make other Hospital ppl aware that RTs can do it in a better way.. To be very frank I MEAN IT..

Lets hope for the Best..

Once again Thanking you for your efforts for uplifting the profession. Thanking all other Fellow RTs who dont look for self prosperity and fight for the rest.. (Yes they should look for their lives, but all of us should realise that RTs are such a group who can create wonderful results in patient outcome, even if it starts from the basic infection control techniques and trainings. Let them do it and make others say " SEE THE WAY HOW THAT RT IS DOING, TRY TO LEARN IT FROM HIM/HER".. That comment will open the paths for those who are ambitiously present around us)

Regards,

Manjush
