RT SPACE

The First Social Network for Respiratory Care

I will not be taking my chemistry or A&P class for my RT program because they were credits that I had transfered from another college. I want to review just to make sure I do not forget anything and I was wondering what is covered during a chemistry and A&P class for RT. Is it just general chemistry and A&P? Thank you.

Hi Ashley, if I may I'd suggest that you might purchase a study guide text like Respiratory Care Exam Review for review of entry level and advanced exams by Gary Persing. It is in outline form and I think will address what you need to know about chemistry and anatomy. The NBRC does not do any direct recall question but you do need to be familar with the human body. # 0-7216-0670-9 http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/bookdescription.cws_home/703347/de... The cost is around $60 but you may have a friend that has one you can borrow or they may have a exam review book by another author. -- Jack
Ashley, I was thinking that if you lived near a Respiratory Therapy Program you might be able to use there library or check out some study guides... Just a thought. -- Jack
Hi Ashley - in most programs that require A&P and Chemistry, those are the basic "core" courses. So yes, I would just review anything that might relate to what we do in respiratory - which one could argue will involve all the body systems at some level, but mostly respiratory, cardiovascular, the kidneys. Within your Respiratory courses, you will likely have an element (or whole course, like I had) that focuses more specifically on respiratory anatomy and physiology. Hope this helps, good luck! It is worth all the hard work :-).
